The Zambia Copper Domes Corridor

Copper-Cobalt Domes Project

North-Western Zambia. Five maps, one story: where we are, and why it matters.

Step 1: Located in the heart of the Central African Copperbelt, the world's second-largest copper-producing region

Map of the Central African Copperbelt's three copper districts: the DRC Copperbelt, the Zambia Copper Domes Corridor and the Zambian Copperbelt, with Lobito Resources' Copper-Cobalt Domes Project marked.

Central African Copperbelt (CACB)

  • 18%

    of global copper

  • 2nd

    largest copper-producing region

  • 4.1 Mt

    produced per annum (2025)

Detail & sources

The Central African Copperbelt spans the DRC Copperbelt, the Zambia Copper Domes Corridor and the Zambian Copperbelt. 2025 copper production: DRC ~3.2 Mt; Zambia 890,346 t, of which ~521 kt came from the Domes Corridor mines (Sentinel, Kansanshi, Lumwana) and ~369 kt from the Zambian Copperbelt (estimate: national total less the Corridor). Shares of world mined copper: DRC Copperbelt ~14%, Zambia Copper Domes Corridor ~2.3%, Zambian Copperbelt ~1.6%. World mined copper ~23 Mt. District boundaries are illustrative. Sources: USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026; Zambia Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development (January 2026); First Quantum; Barrick.

Step 2: Our neighbours mine over 2% of the world's copper, and production is growing

Map of the producing mines around our licence: First Quantum's Sentinel and Enterprise (Trident), Barrick's Lumwana and First Quantum's Kansanshi.
  • 0 km

    to First Quantum's Trident licences

  • ~2.3%

    of world copper production

  • ~60%

    of Zambia's annual copper production

  • +170 kt/yr

    forecast increase by 2028–29 (+32%)

Detail & sources

Neighbouring producers in 2025: First Quantum's Sentinel (189,040 t copper) and Kansanshi (181,183 t), and Barrick's Lumwana (~151,000 t), about 521 kt in total, or 58.5% of Zambia's 890,346 t. Forecast: about 690 kt a year by 2028–29 (range 660–720 kt), from First Quantum guidance (Kansanshi 230–260 kt, Sentinel 190–220 kt) and Lumwana at about 240 kt a year after its expansion (Barrick; first copper expected Q1 2028). Company forecasts, indicative. Distances from our licence boundary: Enterprise 27 km, Sentinel 31 km, Lumwana 40 km, Kansanshi 85 km.

Step 3: Located in a highly active area for mineral exploration

Map of published copper exploration targets and exploration projects around our licence, including First Quantum's Intrepid target 2 km from our boundary.
  • 2 km

    to First Quantum's Intrepid target

  • 9

published copper targets within 50 km

  • 4

    exploration projects within 50 km

  • 30–50 km

    First Quantum's exploration focus radius

Nearby targets do not imply that commercial-grade deposits exist on our licence.

Detail & sources

Targets as presented by First Quantum in its 2025 Zambia Tour presentation (September 2025), slide 28, in its plan to extend the life of its Trident mines; positions read from First Quantum's map (±1–2 km). Exploration projects: Tertiary Minerals (Mukai with First Quantum, 16 km; Mupala, 31 km), Prospect Resources (Mumbezhi, 41 km*), Arc Minerals (Kabompo West, 48 km) and Midnight Sun Mining (Kazhiba and Dumbwa, 79–97 km*). * approximate position. Step 4: Located in a major destination for global mining investment

Map of major mine investments in the Zambia Copper Domes Corridor: Sentinel, the Lumwana expansion and Kansanshi's S3 expansion and smelter.
  • ~US$5 bn

invested in major mine projects since 2012

  • US$2.6 bn+

forecast mine investment over the next three years

Detail & sources

Since 2012: Sentinel US$2.5 bn (First Quantum); Kansanshi smelter ~US$0.9 bn; Kansanshi S3 expansion US$1.25 bn; Lumwana expansion US$416 m spent to end-2025 (Barrick). Next three years: Lumwana expansion ~US$1.6 bn remaining of ~US$2 bn, plus First Quantum's 2026 capital at its Zambian mines ~US$1.0 bn (Annual Information Form, February 2026); 2027–28 budgets not yet published. Step 5: Connected to regional and international markets via the Lobito Corridor Development

The planned Zambia–Lobito line is proposed along the Solwezi–Mwinilunga road, which crosses our licence.

  • ~1 week

to the Atlantic, down from over a month

  • US$553 m

US DFC financing for the Lobito Atlantic Railway (Dec 2025)

  • €2 bn+

committed by the EU and member states
